Your help is needed. As you will be aware the Olympic Torch is passing through Grantham on Thursday 28th June. As part of the celebrations the museum will be open and inside you will be able to get the opportunity to meet some of our past Grantham Olympians as well as see and actual torch from this year’s relay. You can even have a photo taken holding it!!! We also want to create a display celebrating ’Grantham’s Olympic Heritage’ and that is where your help is needed.
Have you or someone you know had any connections with the Olympic Games? We don’t just mean the athletes – we also want to celebrate the torch runners, the ticket collectors, the kit washers and even the people who have emptied the bins!!
We already have had people like a lady whose mum was part of the Torvill and Dean coaching team at the Sarajevo Olympics step forward with her memories but knowing this town I bet that someone from Grantham has been involved in the Olympics in some capacity ever since the games started.
If you have a story to tell or something for display the contact us via the website www.granthammuseum.org.uk and we will then need the items by Sat 25th to get them ready.
The Olympic display will then be in the museum for the duration of the Games.
