Edith Smith exhibition is born.

I appeared on Melvyn in the Morning with John Morgan the debate was one of change and influences on this particular slot – Margaret Thatcher and the planned installation of her statue. I love a challenge and when John Morgan proposed the Museum should show the same level of commitment to other notable Grantham Residents – PC Edith Smith – our Pioneer of Policing was the obvious choice. I decided to carry that proposal forward with a permanent Exhibition to honour her memory and her contribution to as the first  Women in Policing with the Power of Arrest and as another first for our Town. Everyone at the Museum fully supported the idea and so our Journey began.

Very excited! The news of our planned permanent exhibition has been launched! Our ‘Buy a Brick’ Campaign Fundraiser is now in full swing and already being picked up by local media. The idea came from Ediths Cells which are just next door, ‘Buy a Brick’, make a donation and have your own personal message on Edith’s recreated cell wall which will form part of the Exhibit.  We have had a great response from the public, lots of questions and praise for the Museum working hard to recognise another local heroine.
