In 2013, the Grantham Community Heritage Association launched a project to raise funds to commission a statue of Margaret Thatcher. The project was a fund raising project to support the educational charity that operates the Grantham Museum where for every pound that was donated to the statue project, a certain percentage would go towards supporting the work of the Museum. We were delighted to receive cross community support for this project in recognition of the important educational work of the volunteers of the GCHA.

In 2018, we signed a cooperation agreement with The Public Memorials Appeal and South Kesteven District Council. Planning permission was unanimously approved in a public planning meeting in Feb 2019 for the statue to be situated on St Peters Green outside of the Grantham Museum.
We would like to thank the hundreds of people from all over the world that donated to the Statue and Museum fundraising project. Based on current cashflows after our agreed contribution to the delivery of the statue – the project raised enough money to support the educational charity that operate the Grantham Museum for around 10 years.
We look forward to the unveiling of the statue in due course. All press enquiries should be directed South Kesteven District Council on 01476 406080.
